At one level, the Tarot card ‘9 Cups’ is a sign of delight in all the senses. This card encourages you to seek out pleasure and enjoy your body. I was drawn into this scene and thought to myself: “Wouldn´t it be a great idea to build a small pool like that?”.  Well here we are!

The centre piece is the moon goddess in her traditional posture raising her arms showing the moon in its different phases. She is being worshipped by local musicians with their Zanzibari songs. The two mountains on the right-hand side are a reminder of my home near Salzburg, the area below still work in progress.

The Greek mosaic border at the bottom of the walls, I crafted from bits and pieces of old bathroom tiles. Drawing the goddess in the corner, my biggest challenge was to get the lines somewhat right so as to create the illusion of lines being curved. My friend Petra who visited just as I was painting served as a dummy for the size of the figure.
