This quilt is a bank of memories of some admirable women working hard for their families and their personal independence.

It places photos of my grandmother, my mother and her sister, next to monograms from various times during their lives. The fabrics are dresses that my mother wore when she was a young woman and kept for many years.

All the women learnt a trade, ran a business and raised a family – independent women that were great role models for a girl and teenager. No-nonsense women who lived so many of the tenets of feminism as a matter of course.
