Swimming in the snow

Spring is coming with crocuses and daffodils already out in the sunniest spots in London. Temperatures are rising again.

I now dare to say that I managed what I truly did not expect a few months ago – to swim in an outdoor pond throughout the winter months and the falling temperatures. For the first time ever. I used to be one of those who took ages going into the water at the height of summer.

The secret, as everyone told me, is going swimming regularly. I followed the water temperature down from 14 degrees Celsius in September to the lowest point at 2 degrees just before Christmas. And these are the photos from a swim in the December snow. Who would have thought I was brave enough.

Thank you, Liz, for getting me into this and through it!
